This remarkable world we all share has cultivated an endless amount of stews. As people get more connected and promote new ideas, so does the availability of ingredients. Many times, I’ve come across spices that I use enthusiastically until I run out or it grows old; like a favorite childhood toy. I think we can all relate to the mindfulness that flavors can trigger, evoking feelings about someone or something. Company of Khanh and A Good Carrot have gathered with their favorite ingredients, this time making inspirational stews that are ready for your enjoyment.

 

Menu

 

Upon arrival, enjoy a complimentary adult beverage inspired by our home state of California:

Fall in Aloe

Dry Bombay gin, Chareau Aloe Vera Liqueur, tonic

Garnished with ripe market fresh fruit

 

While you mingle:

Have a sample, then pick your favorite two for the 2nd and 3rd Course

All stews are served with your choice of  bread or rice

 

Course 1

MYANMAR FERMENTED TEA LEAF SALAD

Thinly sliced cabbage topped with tomatoes and crunchy fried beans in a light dressing

This item will be served family-style

 

Course 2 and 3

 

VIETNAMESE BO KHO

Velvety French-inspired stew with tender beef, chunks of carrots,

Hints of star anise and cloves   

Garnished with lemongrass gremolata

OR

PERUVIAN SECO DE POLLO

Chicken seared with spices, stewed in light beer, peas, aji amarillo, and sweet pepper medley

Hints of annatto and cumin

Garnished with cilantro leaves

 OR

PERSIAN BAMYA BEL (Vegetarian)

Tomatoes, baby okra, and vegetables gently roasted then stewed in olive oil

Hints of pomegranate molasses and allspice

Garnished with flat parsley

 OR

INDIAN DHAAN SAK (Vegetarian)

Spicy squash, eggplant, and lentil stew simmered with garam masala

Hints of coriander and young ginger

Garnished with yogurt

 OR

WEST AFRICAN MAFE

Lamb and peanut stew simmered with seasonal market vegetables

Hint of spiciness and dried shrimp

Garnished with crushed roasted peanuts

 OR

FRENCH GARBURE

Smoked ham hocks simmered with buttery white beans and cabbage

Hints of thyme and black pepper

Garnished with gruyere cheese toasts

ENGLISH LAVENDER LEMON POSSET

Curdled pudding that is silky, lush, and bursting with citrusy vanilla flavor to clear the palate

Garnished with organic lavender buds
